A charity cycle ride to raise funds for the Southampton Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) that takes critically-ill children referred by Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust will call in at St Richard's Hospital on Saturday night.
Participants in the Pedal Power for PICU ride, which is being held in memory of patient Grace Mae Chiverton, are attempting to cover 240 miles in 24 hours by pedalling between all the hospitals that refer children to the unit.
Money raised will go towards the unit's £110,000 appeal to buy a state-of-the-art retrievals ambulance that will transport critically-ill children from St Richard's and the other referring hospitals to Southampton.
They are scheduled to reach St Richard's, in Chichester, at midnight on Saturday 7 July, where they will be met by a welcome party of staff and relatives of patients who have benefited from the PICU service.
More information is available about the ride on the Friends of PICU website and you can contribute to its fundraising efforts at www.justgiving.com/grace-mae.
