Cannulation Course

 

AIMS & OBJECTIVES: 

At the end of the day nurses will be able to:

  • Ensure that the physical and psychological aspects of care are related to

    practice.
  • Name the indications for use of the peripheral intravenous cannula.

  • Know the relevant physiology for cannulation.

  • Know and apply the principles of aseptic technique to cannulation.

  • Know the criteria for the choice of both vein and size of cannula.

  • Name the potential problems which may be encountered.

     

PROGRAMME:

  • Infection Control

  • Cannulation Theory

  • Cannulation Practical

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

In order to attend this course it is important that you: -

  • You have attended an IV Drugs Administration Course and are deemed competent
  • Are not on annual leave for the next 6 weeks

  • Will be able to use this competency on average at least twice each week

  • Have a competent mentor to supervise your practice

  • Complete all the assessments within 3 months

  • Your manager must be aware and have nominated you for this course.

TIME:9.00am - 1.00pm

St Richards Dates:

Wednesday 13th March 2013 -  Bateman Room, CMEC, Chichester (Full)

COST: £50 per place
