AIMS & OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the half day nurses will be able to:

Ensure that the physical and psychological aspects of care are related to practice.

Know the relevant physiology for venepuncture.

Know and apply the principles of aseptic technique to venepunture.
-
Know the criteria for choosing both the vein and the device for venepuncture.
-
Name the potential problems, which may be encountered.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
In order to attend these courses it is important that you: -

Are not on annual leave for the nextension 6 weeks

Will be able to use this competency on average at least twice each week

Have a competent mentor to supervise your practice

Complete all the assessments within 3 months
-
Your manager must be aware and have nominated you for this course.
