Who makes a good volunteer?

As all our volunteers are part of a high-profile public service, we are looking for people with the right personal qualities to work effectively as part of a team.

You need to be friendly and caring, able to communicate well with patients and visitors, and to co-operate with staff. Other qualities required are reliability, initiative, discretion and perseverance.

Volunteers should be at least 18 years old, in good health and able to offer a minimum commitment of six months.

It is important that volunteers are suited to the situation in which they will be helping, so we would ask you to attend an informal interview, provide two references, complete a Trust declaration of health form and have CRB clearance before starting.

All volunteers at Western Sussex Hospitals are covered by insurance and expected to agree to our regulations protecting patient confidentiality.
