Stopping smoking in pregnancy
Pregnancy is a time to take care of yourself. If you are healthy and happy during pregnancy, you are more likely to be relaxed during the birth and after your baby is born.

Smoking during pregnancy is bad for you. It is also bad for your baby and bad for your purse. The average smoker spends £1,750 a year on cigarettes.

By stopping smoking you could have over £1,000 extra to spend during your pregnancy.

Give yourself a chance!

Evidence shows that people are four times more likely to quit smoking if they get support from local NHS stop smoking service.

What support can I get?

With the right support you can give yourself a healthier, wealthier pregnancy.

In your area, there are specially trained stop smoking advisors who provide friendly, practical advice and support for pregnant women like you who are thinking about quitting.

Can I get help with cravings?

You and your advisor will discuss you options for using Nicotine Replacement Therapy such as lozenges and gum.

Can I get help in between support sessions?

Yes. A telephone support service is available to answer any questions you have and advise you on coping with cravings. You can also contact your stop smoking advisor when you need extra help.
