A huge ‘Thank you’ to all our volunteers
Thank you for everything you do for us was the key message to all the trust’s volunteers during National Volunteers’ Week 1-7 June. Nearly 900 people living locally give freely of their time to help teams in our hospitals – and some have been doing so for 30+ years!
Among those receiving long service awards at two special trust volunteer celebration events this month was Rosemary Billingshurst, who many colleagues will know from the Friends’ Shop at St Richard’s, where she has volunteered for three decades now.
More than 100 volunteers attended a buffet lunch at St Richard’s on 4 June where Rosemary and other volunteers were commended for reaching significant milestones in their voluntary service from 5 to 30 years.
Similarly, long service volunteers from Worthing and Southlands (pictured above) were also celebrated at another event on 14 June, attended by nearly 100 volunteers at The Dome in Worthing.
Interim chairman Patrick Boyle, accompanied by senior trust executives, directors and governors, thanked volunteers and the trust’s volunteer service for their invaluable contribution to the trust and all the support and assistance they provide to colleagues.
He said: “I was delighted to have had the opportunity to celebrate the amazing contribution made by our wonderful volunteers in Worthing, St Richard’s and Southlands, and to thank them for the care, support and love they provide every day for our patients and staff.”
