Congratulations to trust funded Masters graduates
Congratulations to practice development and research midwife Anita Clarke and breast care clinical nurse specialist Carolyn Price, who have both graduated from the University of Surrey with a Masters Degree in Science, fully funded and supported by the trust.
Anita said: “The feeling of achievement is out of this world, and I am so very proud of myself and Carolyn.
“It was worth the lost weekends and sleepless nights but most of all it has enabled us to grow and to develop into confident practitioners who can provide the best possible service for our clients and our staff.”
Carolyn agreed and said graduating was one of the best feelings and experiences. She added: “Deciding to do my Masters in my 50’s seemed like a great idea at the time, but in reality juggling my full time role as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in breast care alongside study was certainly challenging and there were many times I almost gave up.
“There were lots of lows which Anita and I often shared, but the ultimate high of being presented with my award at Guildford Cathedral in front of my family, especially my two daughters, was a hugely proud and emotional moment.
“I am very grateful to the trust for funding my studies as I wouldn’t have been able to do this without that, but I would also like to mention the generous support and kindness of my colleagues, both at St Richard’s and Worthing Hospital.
“I hope as part of a great team we can continue to use our experiences and knowledge to improve patient care.”
Anita said she would recommend further education but warned colleagues not to underestimate the work required.
However, she said: “Believe in yourself, because if I can do it anyone can!
