Helping patients home earlier

Tuesday October 16, 2018

An improvement project helping hundreds of patients return home earlier on their day of discharge from hospital is being presented to the board of Western Sussex Hospitals next week.

The trust’s leadership meets in public, 10am-12pm, in the Bateman Room, Chichester Medical Education Centre (CMEC), St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester (PO19 6SE) on 25 October 2018.

The agenda includes a Patient First presentation by chief operating officer Jayne Black, which will explore why patients are being discharged earlier in the day and how the trust is achieving this.

The board will also discuss the trust’s performance, finances and workforce concerns, as well as children’s safeguarding at Southlands, Worthing and St Richard’s hospitals in West Sussex.

Chief executive Marianne Griffiths will start the meeting by sharing the latest trust news and before it closes at 12pm there will be an opportunity for members of the public to ask questions.

Chairman, Alan McCarthy, said: “We welcome our members, patients and the general public attending our meetings and always provide time for public questions at the end.

“Nearly 10,000 people work or volunteer in our three hospitals and, as demand for our services continues to grow, we really value engaging with the people and local communities we serve.”

The agenda for the meeting is usually published one week in advance on the trust website, together with forthcoming meeting dates: www.westernsussexhospitals.nhs.uk/your-trust/board/.
