Mabuhay! New Filipino nurses join the trust
Nurses from the Philippines continue to arrive in England to start their new careers with Western Sussex Hospitals.
On Thursday, seven more new colleagues landed at Gatwick Airport and received a warm welcome in Worthing from other members of the trust’s Filipino community as well as nursing director Maggie Davies and head of nursing Fiona Keeling.
More nurses are due to arrive in the coming weeks and months as visas are granted to the 60 nurses offered jobs on the trust’s most recent trip to the Philippines.
Nursing director Maggie Davies said: “It is with great pleasure that we welcome to Western Sussex our new colleagues from the Philippines. We are very fortunate that they have chosen our trust from the many around the country looking to recruit the best talent.
“With more than 20,000 nurse vacancies nationwide, nurses can choose where they wish to work in many cases. It is therefore particularly heartening to see our overall nursing numbers in the trust grow year-on-year.”
At Western Sussex, there are more nurses, healthcare assistants and doctors working for the trust than was the case one year ago.
