Patriotic porter promotes Brighton

Tuesday February 3, 2015

A patriotic porter from Worthing Hospital is enjoying his 15 minutes of fame promoting Brighton as a great English holiday destination.

Rob Melville, 60 from Worthing, was spotted at a scooter event, and asked to attend a television casting session with his friend and fellow Mod Adrian Tincknell.

The producers loved their dapper look and asked them to feature in VisitEngland’s new advert raising the profile of English destinations in the year of the Rugby World Cup.

Rob, a well-known face around Worthing Hospital where he has been a porter for 20 years, said: “It was just unbelievable, very surreal, but an excellent experience. We spent the whole day floating on air!

“And when I saw the advert for the first time I was so proud – I just thought ‘wow’ that looks amazing.”

The advert, which has been shown on SKY, ITV and Channel 5, showcases the variety of scenery on offer in England to encourage Brits to explore destinations on their doorstep.

Brighton, which is a Rugby World Cup 2015 match venue and host city, features alongside other English holiday destinations, and of course Twickenham.
