Please register with Family Assist if you are expecting a baby or who have a child under 2

Tuesday March 24, 2020

During this difficult and unsettling period we may need to make some changes to our services in order to meet the needs of all women during a time when there may be staffing and space challenges.

We want to ensure any parents expecting a baby or who have a child under 2 are supported through this and are looking for innovative ways in which we can communicate with you while temporarily avoiding any unnecessary face to face contact.

To make sure that  Midwives and Health Visitors can prioritise providing frontline care effectively at this very pressured time, we are advising that ALL pregnant women registered at Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and ALL families with a child under the age of 2 living in West Sussex register immediately to our online support service, Family Assist, via this link https://west-sussex-family-assist.custhelp.com/

The Family Assist team will take any questions or concerns you have via the site on ‘live chat’. You will be able to ask a question and we will respond to you as quickly as possible. That way we can avoid unnecessary phone calls to your midwife or health visitor if your concern is not urgent.

If you think you are in labour or your concern is urgent please continue to use Midwifery Telephone Triage (the number is on the front of your notes).

The team taking your Family Assist queries are midwives, health visitors and knowledgeable support staff who will ensure you are receiving the best available advice. The Family Assist website will also link to all the latest official guidance on Coronavirus (Covid-19) and when this changes we will send you an alert by email so you can stay fully up to date.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding.
