Western Sussex Hospitals have joined up with Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals to form a new NHS Foundation Trust for our area: University Hospitals Sussex.

St Richard’s Hospital has a restaurant, coffee shop and convenience store for patients, visitors and staff:

The Spice of Life Restaurant

You will find the Spice of Life Restaurant on the first floor of the main St Richard’s Hospital building, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner between 7.15 am – 7.30 pm Monday to Friday, and 8.30 am – 7.00 pm Saturday and Sunday.

Costa Coffee

Costa Coffee is now in the main reception at St Richard’s and opens from 7.00 am – 8.00 pm Monday to Friday, and 8.00 am – 6.00 pm at weekends, selling hot and cold drinks, snacks, sandwiches and panini.


The convenience shop Amigo is next to Costa Coffee in the main entrance at St Richard’s and opens from 7.00 am – 8.00 pm Monday to Friday, and 8.00 am – 6.00 pm at weekends.

League of Friends shop

The new League of Friends shop is in the hospital’s Outpatients entrance.

Baby changing facilities

Facilities for changing babies at St Richard’s Hospital can be found in main reception, Accident and Emergency, Outpatients and the Women and Children’s Unit.

Breast feeding

Breast feeding is welcome anywhere in the Trust. If a visitor needs to breast feed their baby in private, there is a breast feeding room in main reception.

Cash machine

A cash machine is located in main reception, next to the Friends’ shop.


The St Richard’s Hospital chapel is found on the main building’s ground floor and is open 24 hours a day for quiet reflection.
