Western Sussex Hospitals have joined up with Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals to form a new NHS Foundation Trust for our area: University Hospitals Sussex.

You can keep using this website for information about St Richard’s, Worthing and Southlands hospitals but for our other sites and to find out more about the new trust please visit www.uhsussex.nhs.uk.

Our acute private services are supported by Consultant Anaesthetists employed in the Trust.

Our Anaesthetic Consultants take account of individual patient need to ensure optimal safety and problem free recovery from anaesthetia.

They have worked closely with our surgeons and other clinical staff to introduce enhanced recovery pathways for colorectal, musculoskeletal, and gynecological procedures that have demonstrated improvements in patient care and experience.

Patients who are elderly & frail or have underlying medical conditions, may be asked to attend a Pre-Anaesthetic Review Clinic (PARC). A PARC assessment allows the anaesthetist to discuss the risks with you and confirm your suitability for a General Anaesthetic (GA).

The Chichester Anaesthetic Group provides services at St Richard’s hospital and has its own website explaining a little more about themselves and their services. This site also includes useful patient information: www.chich.co.uk.
