Anaesthetics
Anaesthetists work closely with many other departments across the trust and are involved in the assessment and preparation of patients for surgery, the identification and provision of appropriate sleep and pain relief, and the supervision of care of patients in the recovery ward or critical care unit following an operation.
Our pre-assessment services ensure patients undergoing surgery are fully prepared for their operation and that their general health is the best it can be prior to their admission.
Our theatre services provide anaesthesia for most types of surgical procedures.
And our anaesthetists run a 24-hour maternity service providing epidural pain relief for labour, as well as a full range of anaesthetic options for Caesarean deliveries.
