Information for GPs and optometrists
GPs and Optometrists referring patients for emergency or urgent appointments, are advised to first phone an Ophthalmology department for nurse triage or, if out hours, speak to the on-call Ophthalmology doctor.
Weekdays (Monday-Friday 8am-7pm)

Following clinical discussion, all referrals should be accompanied by a referral form emailed to one of the following addresses below as appropriate:
Emergency conditions (vision immediately threatened, patient requires same day appointment)

Urgent conditions (patients require appointment within 2 weeks, but there is no immediate threat to the vision)

Please DO NOT send patients to the Ophthalmology Departments without prior discussion, they do not provide a walk-in service.
