Western Sussex Hospitals have joined up with Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals to form a new NHS Foundation Trust for our area: University Hospitals Sussex.

You can keep using this website for information about St Richard’s, Worthing and Southlands hospitals but for our other sites and to find out more about the new trust please visit www.uhsussex.nhs.uk.

If you are prescribed any medicines to take when you leave hospital, you can collect them from the pharmacy at St Richard’s or Worthing Hospital.

In certain circumstances we can post medicines to patients. Ask at the pharmacy for more details, but please be aware there may be a charge for this.

St Richard’s Hospital pharmacy

  • Weekdays: 9am – 5.00 pm
  • Saturday: 10am – 12pm
  • Sunday: 10am – 12pm
  • Bank Holidays: 10am – 12pm

The pharmacy is on the ground floor of St Richard’s Hospital, adjacent to the entrance to the outpatients department:

Worthing Hospital pharmacy

  • Weekdays: 9am – 5.00 pm
  • Saturday: No out-patient services
  • Sunday: No out-patient services
  • Bank Holidays: No out-patient services

The pharmacy is on the ground floor of the East Wing at Worthing Hospital, next to the Seafront courtyard:

The pharmacies prioritise urgent work required for inpatients during these hours but are able to dispense hospital outpatient prescriptions which cannot be provided from a community pharmacy.

Please be aware that although the pharmacies may be occupied outside these times (staff working on the wards are on-site from 8.45 am) they are not open to dispense prescriptions outside the hours listed.

Please also note that the hospital pharmacies do not have a contract to dispense community FP10s obtained from your GP (green coloured prescriptions).

If you are given one of these prescriptions you will need to take it to a community pharmacy to have it dispensed. You may also wish to do this if the hospital has provided with you with an outside green FP10 prescription.
