Anaesthetics – Educational opportunities

The Department operates a weekly afternoon teaching programme geared towards the Anaesthetic exam syllabus.

There is a morning 8 week Intensive Care teaching (3 teaching sessions per week) which commences in August for the trainees.

Once a month the dept has a journal club run by consultants.

The trainees are actively encouraged to attend the rolling regional teaching programme across HEKSS.

Trainees regularly attend the simulation centre at St Richard’s and can practice managing anaesthetic scenarios.

There are regular departmental clinical governance meetings shared between St Richard’s and Worthing Hospitals.

Trainees are encouraged to participate in audit and research projects.

The department had in excess of 20 abstract posters accepted at national and international meetings during the last year.
