Western Sussex Hospitals have joined up with Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals to form a new NHS Foundation Trust for our area: University Hospitals Sussex.

Core Medicine

The aims and objectives of the CMT programme at St Richard’s are to provide comprehensive experience and training in all aspects of the major medical specialties. There are also opportunities for trainees to gain experience in other medical specialties in order to prepare them for competitive entry into the higher medical specialty of their choice at ST3 level.

The acute medical, medicine for the elderly and specialty medical services are fully integrated, with all specialties taking part in the acute general medical rota.

Duties of the CT1-2s in each team will include supervision of the FY1 doctor and the management of acute medical admissions and specialty patients and subsequent in-patient care on the wards.
