The Maxillofacial Unit

The Maxillofacial team cover the whole of the population served by the Western Sussex Hospitals Trust. This involves most of the population of West Sussex, apart from the North East corner, covered by East Grinstead. The In-patient base is at Chichester but in addition Clinics and Day Surgery lists occur at both Worthing and Southlands Hospitals.

The level of SpR will vary depending on when on the rotation the SpR is attached to West Sussex Hospitals Trust. Both the KSS and SCTP programmes will rotate as 3 twenty month rotations. The KSS SpR will rotate through Guildford and East Grinstead; the SCTP SpR will rotate through an East ( West Sussex and Portsmouth), Central (Southampton and Salisbury) and West (Poole) elements.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery 

The existing establishment is for four Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons:
Mr S Madhavarajan, Mr A W Wilson, Mr. S Walsh, Mr P Alam.
Plus four fixed term consultants.

At present, there are two Specialty Registrars (on regional rotation), 3 specialty doctors and 5 Dental trainees.

The 2 Registrars come from 2 separate OMFS Training rotations. One from KSS, who will rotate through Guildford and The Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead and one from the South Coast Training Programme (SCTP), who rotates through Portsmouth, Southampton, Salisbury and Poole.

In addition there are 2 Consultant Orthodontists – Ms. J Clark and Ms. R Walker and 2 Consultants in Restorative Dentistry.
