Microbiology – Clinical work and support

Day to day activities will be tailored to the stage of training, for example prior to exams more time can be spent in the laboratory or towards the end of training more time can be spent on managerial tasks. All trainees will be actively encouraged to take part in departmental audits and time off clinical work is set aside for these and other training activities. Following the merger of the Chichester and Worthing Laboratories the trainee will have the opportunity to work in a larger laboratory and also have closer liaison with the Worthing site. At present there is no plan for the trainee to cover cross-site except senior trainees on-call, but this may change in the future.

There are also Microbiologists based in Worthing and we cross-cover for on-calls and occasional other days.
