Microbiology – Educational opportunities

All trainees will be actively encouraged to take part in departmental audits and time off clinical work is set aside for these and other training activities. Following the merger of the Chichester and Worthing Laboratories the trainee will have the opportunity to work in a larger laboratory and also have closer liaison with the Worthing site.

Trainees participate in a programme of training days currently organised by the London deanery.  Tutorials and seminars are arranged on a regular basis at the different centres and trainees are also welcome to attend the Friday meetings in Brighton when not on clinical cover.  Most MMV trainees have undertaken an MSc in Microbiology and trainees are encouraged to submit abstracts and attend MMV/ID meetings such as the Federation of Infection Societies annual meeting.
