Western Sussex Hospitals have joined up with Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals to form a new NHS Foundation Trust for our area: University Hospitals Sussex.

You can keep using this website for information about St Richard’s, Worthing and Southlands hospitals but for our other sites and to find out more about the new trust please visit www.uhsussex.nhs.uk.

Shift practice and rota

The rota is EWTD compliant.

SHOs do one week of nights (split into two blocks of three and four nights) with a resident consultant or middle tier doctor every eighth week.

Registrars do five nights from Thursday to Monday every six weeks, with the other two nights being covered by a resident consultant. Both tiers do one in eight weekend days.

All other clinical experience during the working week is between the hours of 8am and 8.30pm on a shift basis.
