Cardiovascular Medicine

This is an ST3 job in cardiology with on-call for acute unselected general medical take. 

There is exceptionally good Catheter Laboratory access to the trainee to be taught invasive cardiology under direct, 1:1 consultant supervision: coronary angiography from both femoral and radial approach; right heart catheterisation; graft studies; assisting at interventional procedures including coronary angioplasty, intravascular ultrasound, pressure wire studies, insertion of balloon pumps, pericardiocentesis, insertion of subcutaneous loop recorders and pacemakers including for the advanced trainee, bi-ventricular pacemakers and defibrillators. 

There is extensive and high-quality exposure to non-invasive cardiology including regular general cardiology outpatients, chest pain clinic, AF clinic slots, heart failure clinic, valve disease clinic, tertiary referral arrhythmia clinic, pacing and device follow-up clinics, exercise testing, analysis of holter monitors, echocardiography. There are opportunities to see internal referrals from other teams within the Hospital Trust.  All clinical activity is located at Worthing Hospital.
