Gastroenterology – Educational opportunities

Trainees of all levels have the opportunity to sit in gastroenterology outpatient clinics and there are attendance opportunities for endoscopy lists, histopathology, hepatology, IBD and Cancer Multidisciplinary meetings. These activities are compulsory for Specialist trainees.

Trainees must attend all PGME teaching sessions. Trainees have 30 days study leave, (notice must be given 6 weeks prior). Time for study is also the trainees’ responsibility, study must be regular.

Consultants also hold lunchtime education sessions which trainees can attend. There is work placed supervision which will be assessed. The library is also available for use as is the PGMC library to aid trainees with their study.
