Obstetrics and Gynaecology – Shift practice and rota

The rota is EWTD compliant.

SHOs do one week of nights (split into two blocks of three and four nights) with a resident consultant or middle tier doctor every eighth week.

There is a full shift rota with 60 hours consultant presence on delivery suite ensuring good support for our trainees.

Registrars do five nights from Thursday to Monday every six weeks, with the other two nights being covered by a resident consultant. Both tiers do one in eight weekend days.

All other clinical experience during the working week is between the hours of 8am and 8.30pm on a shift basis.
