Respiratory – Educational opportunities

Clinical experience is available in Worthing for most aspects of the respiratory curriculum, except for thoracic surgery, allergy/immunology and lung transplantation. STs attend the regional study days for respiratory medicine and GIM. Study leave is available for appropriate agreed activities, which will be agreed between the trainee and their educational supervisor at the start of their attachment

Trainees are allocated an Educational Supervisor at the start of the programme who will meet regularly with the trainee to discuss progress in the training programme.

Trainees must attend all medicine teaching sessions held in Worthing Health Education Centre. Trainees have 30 days study leave, (notice must be given 6 weeks prior). Time for study is also the trainees’ responsibility, study must be regular.

Consultants also hold lunchtime education sessions which trainees can attend. There is work placed supervision which will be assessed. The health sciences library is available for use to aid trainees with their study.
