Alan Sutton

Public Governor: Chichester District

“As one of the elected governors for Chichester, Alan has brought his enthusiastic and positive approach to support the Trust.

Believing in being hands on,  Alan is active as a volunteer. As well as volunteering on reception at Worthing Hospital,  Alan is a Research Champion representing patients in this vital part of the Trust’s work.  Alan has also attended regional meetings, learning from the experiences of other Trusts and passing on to others the work that goes on to support research in our Trust. This has included facilitating & supporting workshops at the annual staff conference and regionally through the National Institute for Health Research.

As a public governor Alan is aware of our increasing numbers of older patients. Alan has also trained as a “knowing me” volunteer, supporting clinical staff looking after dementia patients in both general and specialist wards. “Being a governor has widened my knowledge and understanding of the Trust and I am proud of the Trust’s achievement of gaining a clean sweep of Outstanding ratings following a recent assessment”
